The Asylum released "Monster Island," its 2019 mockbuster, around the same period as "Godzilla: King of the Monsters". It's about "Monster Island", an island where a creature called a monster resides. The island is also the home of the monster.


Since this is a movie about an asylum, it has about the same budget as a big kid's meal (Monster Island (2019) Decker Shado) and uses it sparingly. It is focused on a handful of human characters. All the scenes can be shot during lunch break on one set. Let's not forget, this is a movie about kaiju, and that's how they work, so maybe The Asylum will do a better job.
